Department Divisions
Every division is managed and monitored by department leadership. Pick the specialty that matches how you want to serve in Carolina Law Enforcement.

Violent Criminal Apprehension Team
VCAT handles high-risk warrants, violent felony suspects, and coordinated takedowns. Officers in this division focus on apprehension operations, tactical planning, and working alongside patrol when situations escalate beyond a standard response.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit keeps roadways safe through enforcement, collision response, and traffic control. TEU officers conduct stops, manage pursuit policy, and support major incidents where vehicle flow and public safety intersect.

Special Response Team
The Special Response Team (SRT) is comprised of a group of highly trained deputy sheriffs who serve on the team voluntarily. SRT members all have collateral functions throughout the agency and can be called out at any time to provide a specialized response to various types of emergency situations.

Criminal Investigations Unit
CIU investigates crimes after the initial response by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and building cases. Detectives handle follow-up investigations that turn incidents into organized cases and documented outcomes.

Marine Unit
The Marine Unit supports waterway safety, vessel enforcement, and maritime response operations. Officers in this division patrol coastal and inland waters, assist with search and rescue coordination, and enforce marine law alongside partner agencies.
